I am a Dutch artist, originating from South Africa.
I currently reside and work in The Hague, The Netherlands.

I am self-taught, having developed and grown my experiences and passions into the field of contemporary, abstract work and inks.
I take my inspiration from my experiences and perceptions of the world around me, the colours and shapes, energy and light, conversations, movements, travels and observations. I am constantly gathering and reflecting on information I receive from talking, touching, seeing, hearing and observing life around me.
I am also inspired by the movements of Expressionism and the methods of Monochrome screen printing, linography and linocut printing.

I particularly enjoy and take inspiration from the modern artists of the last 150 years. Artists like Wassily Kandinsky, Vincent Van Gogh, Franz Marc, Henri Matisse, Paul Klee and Maurits Escher. They resisted convention of the time and broke out into new, dynamic and inspiring movements. I love their use of both colour and black and white monochromatic contrasts in their respective works.

I place focus mainly on the vibrant colours of my subject as a background and the subject itself done in monochrome colour. By doing this, I can separate and dissect my subject into many parts and expressions.
I paint mostly on canvas and occasionally on acrylic paper, using acrylics and black and sepia indian ink as my chosen mediums. Lino printing works are done on printing paper, using water soluble inks and by pulling a limited amount of hand-pressed prints.
